iTraceRT: High Performance INS/GNSS Systems for Automotive Applications

Systems for precise measuring of Vehicle Dynamics and Trajectory

iTraceRT is the ground truth reference for automotive testing worldwide, using INS, GNSS and optionally a wheel sensor. It provides position, velocity, attitude, heading, angular rate, acceleration and standard deviations for each measurement to support the automotive test engineer in the best way to perform his task. iTraceRT is a de-facto standard for automotive industry for more than 15 years now.

iTraceRT-F200 had been launched 2004 to the market and is a compact inertial/GPS coupled measurement system for land, marine and airborne applications. It provides all kinematic measurements as acceleration, angular rate and roll / pitch / yaw of the vehicle as well as position and velocity with a data rate up to 200 Hz using a so-called deeply-coupled data fusion. The series iTraceRT-F40x with 400 Hz data rate had been launched 2008. 

The iTraceRT-F402/7 is the successor of iTraceRT-F200 and iTraceRT-F400 and shows comparable functionality, but contains additionally an Ethernet interface and processes the data internally with 500 Hz. Furthermore the iTraceRT-F402/7 is additionally equipped with GLONASS and optionally GALILEO / BEIDOU; a second GNSS antenna can be connected on request, to provide a drift-free heading also during long standstill durations or immediately after power-on .

  • 2 cm position accuracy (CEP), under sufficient GNSS availability and dynamics with RTK L1/L2 aiding (correction data via iREF-GNSS or iNetGo; for iTraceRT-MVT also via iMAR's Dynamic Mesh Communication Network).
  • optional Interface for ABD steering robot (iSRIF for iTraceRT-F402/7, fully integrated in iTraceRT-MVT series).
  • Application Areas: Verification of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), guidance and control of highly automated vehicles on the proving ground and in industrial transportation systems, usage in accurate surveying applications, verification tool for automotive measurements regarding EuroNCAP AEB / Autonomous Emergency Braking.
  • iTraceRT-MVT recommendation: 
    Due to the future oriented design of the new iTraceRT-MVT system family, which also takes into account the latest requirements of the testing of highly and fully automated vehicles (with even better  performance-to-cost relation than the successor), we recommend our valued customers to switch over for all new applications to the 2016 introduced iTraceRT-MVT system generation. The systems of type  iTraceRT-F4xx will remain in service also in the future. 

The series iTraceRT-MVT is equipped with sensors, interfaces, software and algorithms to meet the latest and future requirements for verification and control tasks on proving grounds up to SAE Level 5 (highest performance and reliability with extended interfaces at minimum latency and minimum jitter on output data). For instance, iMAR's Dynamic Mesh Communication Network (WLAN-compatible multi-point-to-point) is being supported; and for longer distances with strong GNSS degradation (e.g. in urban canyons or during longer tunnels) a very powerful and trend setting odometer aiding is integrated.
iTraceRT-MVT is based on iMAR's iNAT architecture (Navigation & Timing) with a specific application profile within the iXCOM-CMD software for automotive applications (incl. a powerful Wizard for easy plug&play operation) and a dedicated CAN interface.
